Begging is a huge problem and it is getting worse. The number of beggars is increasing rapidly and it has become a disturbing presence in China’s big towns and cities. Some of them are physically disabled but many are quite healthy. It is hard to know who they are and where they are from. What are the real problems causing begging? Who is responsible for this social phenomenon? What attitude should we take? Some people insist on providing some help to them. These people argue that we shouldn’t ignore the conditions of the beggars. We should feel pity that our fellow citizens are reduced to begging for survival. These unlucky people should get sympathy and help from those who are better off, Others hold completely different opinions. They believe hat a certain number of beggars are professional, Even if they are really poor, it is their own fault. When they are given money, they are also given the message that doing nothing is profitable. We are encouraging laziness. Giving money to beggars doesn’t necessarily do any permanent good. It doesn’t make a real difference to their life.
